Leon Overbay (1947-2016)

Leon Overbay 1-cSpecialized in Southern Humor and Performance Poetry.

Lived all his life in the Boones creek Community, Leon writes poems and stories about growing up in rural East Tennessee. He sometimes changed the names to protect the guilty. He was very comfortable sharing wisdom and wit to all audiences. He was a founding member of The Jonesborough Storytellers Guild and a charter member of the Barter Storytellers. He is published in the Cowboy Poetry anthology The Last Roundup. He rounded out his repertory with Cowboy Poetry, Appalachian Stories and Southern Humor.

Graveyard Tales Returns to Rocky Mount on August 3


Real? Imagined? Who knows!!


Creepy tales unfold from within the graveyards of Jonesborough, TN. (the oldest town in Tennessee, famous for its storytellers—and its ghosts).


To celebrate 25 years of storytelling, the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild, the oldest continuing storytelling group in the nation, returns to Rocky Mount State Historic Site on August 3—with a special version of Graveyard Tales—focused on scary stories the ghosts of Jonesborough’s graveyards have told us we must tell!

Graveyard Tales will take place on Saturday, August 3 at 7PM at Rocky Mount Historic Site, located at 200 Hyder Hill Road in Piney Flats, Tennessee.


Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students

Tickets are on-line at Jonesborough.com/tickets, or by phone at the Jonesborough Visitors Center (423-753-1010).  Cash only at the door on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Not recommended for children under 12.
